I've pinned 1,641 times across 3 Etsy shops. Here's what actually drives sales on Pinterest (thread):

1/ Vertical pins only. 2:3 ratio. Instagram-ratio pins get crushed in Smart Feed. Don't fight the algorithm.

2/ Text on image is not optional. You have 0.3 seconds. If your pin doesn't explain itself before they scroll past, it's dead.

3/ One URL per pinning session. Spreading the same URL across 10+ boards in a row = shadowban risk. I've killed an account doing this.

4/ 15 pins per product minimum. Pinterest's distribution is probabilistic. More pins = more surface area. One pin is a lottery ticket. Fifteen is a campaign.

Background: I run a handmade jewelry shop on Etsy. Pinterest is my #2 traffic source. I've been using DonePins for about 6 months. Here's my real take.
